Policy, Governance, Funding, Services, and Research
In designing our governance structures, we have developed an interconnected web of partnerships for coordinating, implementing, and evaluating our work building college-bound communities. We believe that systemic change to improve student performance and increase college-going rates requires all institutions, from pre-kindergarten through the university, to come together to look at the reality of current student achievement, determine common goals, and create a plan of action to achieve those goals. Vertical teams need to engage leadership and must have substantial involvement of K-12 teachers and community college and university faculty in content-focused discussions.
We build partnerships that do the following:

Analyze current data on student achievement;

Align curriculum goals across institutions;

Provide professional development around the goals;
-
Develop self-efficacy for students and advocacy roles for parents; and
-
Mobilize community resources to support educationally disadvantaged students to achieve their education goals.
The Educational Partnership Center was recognized as one of seven effective California partnerships in the California Academic Partnership Program’s report, Raising Student Achievement Through Effective Education Partnerships (PDF).
