Opening
and Closing Days are an exciting, but very emotional day for students
and their families. Please refer to the "Parent
Quotes" section to see what other parents had to say about
these days.
Please note that the dates and times listed below were from the 2009 COSMOS summer program. Dates and times for the 2010 COSMOS program opening and closing day will be announced soon.
Opening Day: Sunday, July 5th, 2009
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Student Check-In: Students will check-in
to their rooms. If you will not be able to arrive during this time,
please inform the COSMOS staff. Parking is available at the Hahn
Building Parking Lot. Shuttles to College Nine will be available.
Please be careful to avoid parking in spaces designated for campus
staff. UCSC Parking Services will ticket anyone who parks illegally.
Please arrive for check in during your designated time period:
Group A - 9:00am - 9:40am
Group B - 9:40am - 10:20am
Group C - 10:20am - 11:00am
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Welcome Luncheon. COSMOS offers a
complimentary lunch to each COSMOS student and one guest. Additional
guests may purchase a luncheon ticket.
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. COSMOS Welcome and Cluster meetings.
2:30 p.m. Parent Departures: Parents depart and students begin COSMOS life.
Closing Day: Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Students and families should meet in the College Nine Quad between the boys and girls dorms by 8:45am
8:45 A.M. - 9:00 A.M. - Everyone walks to individual cluster breakout classrooms(Locations: TBA)
9 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. - Individual Cluster Meetings(Locations: TBA)
11 A.M. - 12 P.M - Closing Ceremony at the College Nine Multipurpose Room
12 P.M - 1 P.M. - Parents and Students depart: Say goodbyes and enjoy the rest of your summer!
